I often get asked if I can take photos in black and white.  As I explain, with digital photography, everything starts out life in colour, but I can of course edit to produce a black and white version of the image.  This family were keen to have a family portrait of each family member in black and white.  It is quite different taking photographs of individuals rather than family groups as the subject is under “the spotlight” rather than interacting with others in the photo so it is key to help the model relax and forget briefly that they are being photographed in order to capture a more natural image.  Here are some of the images from one such session last week:
