Father’s Day is coming up (Sunday 21st June in case you’re not sure!) …. but the shops are not open yet, and with Covid-19 advice still suggesting we should stay home as much as possible, you are probably thinking of looking on line for ideas for Father’s day gifts.  Here are a few ideas that can not only be purchased online, but also support our local businesses.

  1. Gifts for Dad – MIRA

7 Burkes Court, Burkes Road, Beaconsfield HP9 1NZ (opposite the Post Office)

Mira is opening up again next week, but also has a website from which you can order wonderful cards as well as gifts.  They have personalised products, Beaconsfield “specials” and the lovely Helen is happy to chat about what you might like and help you to source a suitable gift.  Check out their website here.

2.  Father’s Day Poem – The Pretty Witty Company

“Remember the thrill when you got a real letter?

Our gifts are like that, just a little bit better

Original artwork and rhymes full of mirth,

Perfect for showing how much someone’s worth.”

Just what they said …. truly original poems created by Jeanette and Sally!  Their main products are unique personalised poems with an illustration, created on the basis of information you provide.  Not long enough till Father’s Day to do one of these?  Well, they have a couple of wonderful Father’s Day poems available that might just fit the bill.  Available for £25 framed or £15 unframed they could be just what you need – check them out here.

3.  Three course takeaway – PRELIBATO

11 Windsor End, Beaconsfield HP9 2JJ (opposite St Mary’s church)

The lovely Prelibato Italian deli and restaurant in Beaconsfield Old Town is now open again for take away meals (collection only).  The mouthwatering Italian menu will change weekly, and can be found online at www.prelibato.co.uk. Opening times are Monday – Sat (12 – 2.30pm for lunches and 5.30 – 9.30pm for dinners)

4.  Three course meal delivered – HIBISCUS CATERING

Hibiscus catering are also offering a three course meal, delivered to your door during the afternoon.  Usually they deliver to Beaconsfield and surrounding areas on Friday and Saturday – it is £20 for a three course meal which you order in advance. Wonderful fresh food without all the cooking.  Their three course menus and booking form go live every Monday morning for deliveries on the Friday and Saturday of that week – but be aware that they do tend to sell out.  For Father’s Day they are doing a specially prepared family BBQ with sausages, steaks, marinated chicken skewers, salsas and salads, as well as some delicious deserts.  Delivery on Father’s day is between 9am – 12 noon for Beaconsfield and surrounding areas.  Cost is £25 per person for the Father’s Day menu – check out their Father’s day BBQ here.

You can select from a choice of 3 starters, 4 main courses and 3 desserts. There is also the option to add a cheeseboard for 2 to share. The three course menu, including delivery to our specified areas is just £20.00 per person. You don’t need to choose the same dishes for everyone ordering (imagine you are in a restaurant ordering off the menu and can choose whatever takes your fancy). There is no minimum order.

5.  His favourite tipple – Griffiths Brothers Gin

The Griffiths Brothers are another local company – based in Penn St – who were incredibly supportive during the Covid-19 lockdown by providing hand sanitiser to the NHS and front line staff.  Established by two brothers, this micro distillery aims to provide the best hand-crafted gin around. They have a selection of products on offer for Father’s Day – check them out on the Griffiths Brothers website.  Even Gin and Tonic hand sanitiser made from the off cut of their gin so even your hands can smell of your favourite gin!
